City of Perpetual Autumn: Transients in Urbania

AKA

How Far I Will Go in Order NOT to Write a Paper

This is a painting-charcoal-thingy that I did for my Ethnography of North End Halifax because I didn't want to write a 10-15 page paper. It's a meter by meter swath of burlap with a brown cotton swath hand-sewn onto the back to help prevent the paints and charcoal from going through. Now, a meter by meter doesn't sound particularly big, but it takes up half my bedroom wall, so it IS big. Or my room is just disgustingly small... For the paints, I used acrylics, and the charcoal... is just black and white charcoal. I've never used either medium before. ^^; Frankly, I finger-painted all the painted sections, and everything in charcoal was done on a wing and a prayer. The picture doesn't look as nice as real life, but as with all things, real life usually ends up looking better than a picture.

There IS meaning behind all of it, but meh- I don't feel like writing it down.

Haha, no, I give you my word, my friend. I have never ever used acrylics or charcoal before, nor do I intend to pick them up again. I'll stick with my pencil crayons from now on. ^^;

I'm glad you like it, though. Thanks so much~ :hug:

Meh, it's not the mess I mind, it's just that they're not my pencil crayons. I'm loyal to my main medium of choice. :)

This is wonderful!! I love the colors -- and the choice of burlap as a canvas is a very interesting one =)

... Did you really do this in lieu of an essay? :XD:
